Junior Sous Chef
Job Summary
The Junior Sous Chef supports the smooth daily operation of the kitchen at AX The Verdala. You will assist in supervising the culinary team, preparing high‑quality dishes, and maintaining exceptional standards of food presentation, hygiene, and safety. This role requires strong technical skills, creativity, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment. You will contribute to menu development, ensure consistent service during meal periods, and uphold the highest culinary standards in line with a 5‑star environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing kitchen operations to ensure smooth service during all meal periods.
- Prepare and cook high‑quality dishes according to standards and menu requirements.
- Support the Sous Chef and Head Chef in supervising and guiding kitchen staff.
- Maintain food presentation standards to ensure consistency and excellence.
- Always ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Assist with menu development by contributing creative ideas and culinary innovation.
- Manage multiple orders efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate needs to the Chef team.
- Support training and development of junior kitchen staff.
- Maintain a clean and organised workstation in line with kitchen standards.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standards.
- Ability to manage and support a team during service.
- Experience in a fast‑paced kitchen with the ability to handle multiple orders.
- Creativity and passion for culinary innovation.
- Experience in a 5‑star or Forbes‑rated establishment is preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the same position.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.
