Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and talented Junior Sous Chef to join our culinary team at the Verdala Wellness Hotel - AX Privilege. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and cooking, along with a desire to develop their culinary skills in a dynamic kitchen environment. In this role, you will assist in overseeing daily kitchen operations, preparing high-quality dishes, and maintaining exceptional standards of food presentation and safety. You will play a key role in managing kitchen staff, ensuring smooth service during meal periods, and contributing to menu development. A strong commitment to quality and teamwork is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing and presenting a diverse range of dishes, ensuring each item meets high standards of quality, presentation, and taste.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and well-stocked kitchen area, ensuring that all ingredients and equipment are readily available and in good working condition.
  • Follow established recipes and preparation procedures, ensuring efficiency during service and upholding a professional kitchen environment.
  • Conduct regular checks of the kitchen area to ensure it remains tidy, organised, and conducive to both staff and guest satisfaction.
  • Support the team by providing guidance and recommendations on menu items, helping to create a tailored and enjoyable dining experience.
  • Report any shortages in ingredients or equipment maintenance needs promptly to the Executive Chef or relevant departments.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and sanitation regulations in the kitchen, including proper handling of ingredients and equipment.
  • Address any issues or concerns related to food preparation and service in a courteous and timely manner, aiming to enhance the overall dining experience.
  • Monitor feedback related to dishes and suggest improvements to maintain high standards of service and guest satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Ability to assist in managing a team and ensuring smooth kitchen service.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen and manage multiple orders.
  • Creativity and a passion for culinary innovation
  • Experience in a similar role within a 5-star hotel environment and/or a Forbes Travel Guide-rated establishment is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in the same position is required.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are considered an asset.
